A half month after the contaminated tap water crisis, Song Da Clean Water Investment Joint Stock Company (Viwasupco) sent a notice of apology to customers and offers a free one-month water fee.
In a statement released in the morning of October 25, Viwasupco acknowledged that “there is no appropriate response scenario to a human-induced emergency situation”, which leads to confusion in the initial handling and cause the upside down in the normal activities of the people.
This is the first time Viwasupco apologized to its customers, despite having been offered many times before. Typically, in the press conferences of Hanoi City (October 15) and Hoa Binh Province (October 17), leaders of Viwasupco both refused to give apologies with the reasons “waiting for the conclusion of competent authorities”or” We are the biggest victims “.
According to statistics, Hanoi city has 250,000 households (about 18% of the total number of households) affected by the pollution of waste oil from Da river’s clean water from October 10 to October 22 (Hanoi time). During this time, the city repeatedly advised people “not to use clean water from the Da river machine to cook and drink”.
Up to now, despite being informed that “Da river’s water is safe”, many households in Hanoi still seem to not trust and continue buying bottled water to use.
