Vietnam confirmed 3,617 new local Covid-19 cases Monday, up 104 cases from previous day, pushing the ongoing wave’s tally to 838,654. The number of new cases continue to drop and remain low in the high-vaccinated areas of the country.

Passengers from HCMC will not have to undergo centralized quarantine for a week when they travel to Hanoi and Hai Phong, both localities have decided.
Vietnam records 3,617 new local Covid cases, three localities with the highest number of new cases were Ho Chi Minh City with 1,527 cases, Dong Nai with 499 cases and Binh Duong with 446 cases.
Of the day’s tally, 1,726 cases were detected in the community. The country also recorded 2,549 recoveries the same day, bringing the total tally of recovered cases so far to 784,748.
According to the report by health ministry, the Covid-19 death toll in Vietnam rose to 20,679 with the confirmation of 115 deaths Monday.
The average number of new cases in the country for the past seven days has been 4,183 a day while the national death rate has been 117 a day on average. Nationwide, over 38.7 million people have been given at least one Covid-19 vaccine dose, local media reported.
Hanoi, Hai Phong scrap mandatory quarantine for air passengers from HCMC, instead, they will only be required to monitor their health at home for seven days in both localities.
Hanoi lifted its quarantine mandate after reaching an agreement with the Ministry of Transport under which only one round trip will operate a day Oct. 10-20 with flights carrying only 50 percent of their passenger capacity.

Announcing a similar lifting of the quarantining mandate, Hai Phong said people coming from high-risk areas would have to self-monitor their health for 14 days. They will be tested on the second and seventh day. Those coming from Covid high-risk areas will also undergo 14 days of quarantine at home, but will tested once after one week.
Local officials said district authorities will compile the list of arriving passengers for monitoring and isolation at home and take responsibility for closely managing and coordinating the collection of samples with the health sector to take samples for testing. The entire cost of transporting passengers to the locality and testing is borne by the passengers.
Two days ago, Hanoi and Hai Phong required people arriving from HCMC by air to be isolated at centralized quarantine facilities or at one of 20 designated hotels for seven days and be tested, all at their own cost.

The Ministry of Transport of Vietnam requires all passengers to be fully immunized at least 14 days or have recovered from Covid-19 in the previous six months before boarding a flight. Everyone should also furnish Covid negative results obtained within 72 hours of taking the flight, VNExpress reported.
