ĐIỆN BIÊN — A poetry photographic exhibition honouring the historic victory of Điện Biên Phủ battle and the life of General Võ Nguyên Giáp (1911-2013) opened in Điện Biên Province on sunday.
“Theo Dấu chân Đại tướng” (In the Footsteps of the General) will run until April 25 at the Museum of Điện Biên Phủ Victory,.
It includes 110 poems by teacher-poetess- journalist Nguyễn Thị Mỹ Dung, who had the opportunity to meet and write many poems about the talented general over more than 20 years, along with photos by journalist Trần Hồng.
Dung said she had many chances to hear the General’s stories about his life and career.
Meeting him and witnessing the daily life of his family inspired her to write these poems, she revealed.
As a teacher, Dung felt that many students do not have a love for history. She believes that learning through poetic works can help students memorise and promote their love for the nation’s history.
