HCM CITY – A photo exhibition to honour Trường Sa Island, its soldiers, residents and the DK1 offshore platforms is being held in HCM City from June 20 to 24.
Organised by the HCM City Photography Association, it features 105 photos taken by 15 photographers who visited Trường Sa since April this year.
They show the lives of the soldiers stationed there and local people, and the DK1 platforms, which are economic, scientific and technical service stations on Việt Nam’s southern continental shelf, and their efforts to protect the country’s sovereignty over its maritime region and islands.
They also convey the nation’s appreciation for the people living in Trường Sa.

Phạm Đức Minh, one of the 15 photographers, said he got to meet the soldiers during his trip to Trường Sa and hear the stories of the people there.
“The trip was an opportunity for us to honour the heroes who gave their lives to protect our islands and home.”
The exhibition aims to help the public get a better understanding of Việt Nam’s islands, and motivate them to help protect the country’s sovereignty and borders, he added.
Lieutenant Colonel Vũ Văn Đoàn, permanent member of the Naval Political Department in HCM City, said the association has been playing a big role in connecting people in the city and across the nation with those living in Trường Sa.
He hoped their love would spread even further.
