Major news sites CNN or Channel News Asia have reported on the official closure of the train street in Hanoi. Agreeing with the views of local officials, CNN’s Lilit Marcus also commented that: “Although it is a place that is popular with tourists and attracts on social networks, it cannot be denied that this is a dangerous area. The track is still in operation and there have also been some problems related to railway safety due to many tourists often sitting, lying or posing on the tracks.”
Meanwhile, the French newspaper France 24 has also gathered some opinions of tourists visiting the train street. Most of them expressed disappointment at the decision to close the famous neighborhood.
Jay Arriola, from England, was told about this neighborhood by his girlfriend. He planned to go to a top cafe to get a better view as the train passed. In addition, standing on high would be a safer option.
“I was quite disappointed when I heard it was closed,” Arriola told France24.
According to the latest statistics of author Thomas Bywater of the NZ Herald (New Zealand), the attraction of the train street cafe in Hanoi is undisputed.
The hashtag #TrainStreet on a social networking platform shows more than 40,000 results showing. Most of them are colorful photos, boldly showing local life such as cafes, motorbikes parked on the side of the road or luxuriant trees in the nooks and crannies,” Bywater wrote.
