HÀ NỘI — The exhibition “COHUNATU,” which featured nearly 50 abstract ceramic artworks, provides audiences with a new viewpoint on Bát Tràng pottery.
It showcases works by four well-known artists: Ngô Anh Cơ, Nguyễn Quốc Huy, Hồ Nam and Trần Nam Tước.
Flattening ceramic pieces to create paintings with unique colours and textures was inspired by the desire to touch viewers’ hearts.
According to artist Nguyễn Quốc Huy, he went against the crowd by using a non-traditional approach to ceramics as he intended to surprise the viewers.
“Artists all have their own unique ways of putting their thoughts and feelings into art. That’s why I’m interested in abstracting ceramic designs to depict their beauty in my own work. In this way, I hope to introduce the wide audience to my own personal aesthetic vision.” Huy said.
Hồ Nam, another artist featured at the exhibit, told Việt Nam News that he hoped to push the limits of an ancient art form to create something truly magnificent.
“We use clay to make pieces that are both ancient and modern. There is no need to set limitations or criteria. Non-stop creativity is the only way forward for all forms of art and every artist,” he stated.

The creative significance of the works shown at the exhibition, as well as the artists’ efforts, were highly praised by Lương Xuân Đoàn, President of the Việt Nam Fine Arts Association.
“Artists have made really beautiful ceramic artworks with their hands, minds, and ingenuity,” Đoàn remarked.
“Together with traditional artists, they have produced vibrant new pieces bursting with vitality. Those are significant artistic contributions to the community and should be celebrated,” he added.
The public is welcome to attend the free exhibition at the Việt Nam Fine Arts Association’s exhibition hall at 16 Ngô Quyền street, Hoàn Kiếm District, Hà Nội. VNS
