Newly-opened Bamboo Airways topped the list of Vietnamese airlines in terms of on-time performance index in the first nine months of this year, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV).
The CAAV reported that during the period, Bamboo Airways conducted 12,005 flights, including 11,270 flights on-time, accounting for 93.9% out of its total flights.
Vietnam Air Services Company (VASCO) came second with 9,078 punctual flights, equal to 93.1% among its total flights.
The runners-up were national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and budget airline Vietjet Air with the punctual fight rate of 88.4% and 82.8%.
Meanwhile, budget Jetstar Pacific ranked lowest at the ranking with 80.1% of flight punctuality.
The late return of planes was the main cause of delays, accounting for 61.8 per cent. Other reasons included limited airport infrastructure and services, flight management and operations, weather and technical issues, said the CAAV.
