According to information from the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the memorandum of understanding on supporting Vietnamese citizens to participate in the Agricultural Worker Program in Australia signed on March 28 is the first memorandum of understanding signed by the Australian side. with countries under the Agricultural Visa Program.
Previously, in September 2021, the Australian Government announced the Visa Program for workers in the agricultural sector and selected Vietnam to become four priority countries to join soon next to Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
The agricultural visa program aims to fill the labor shortage in the agricultural sector in Australia, and at the same time create opportunities for Vietnamese workers to accumulate knowledge, experience, skills and income.
The Australian side is expected to receive about 1,000 agricultural workers per year. The basic salary (excluding living expenses) is 3,200-4,000 AUD/month (equivalent to 52.8-66 million VND/month). This is a high level of income compared to other labor receiving markets.
At the signing ceremony, Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung stated that the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two governments on supporting Vietnamese citizens to participate in the Australian Agricultural Worker Program is a sign of success. important milestone in the cooperation relationship between the two sides.
Minister Dung believes that the MoU will create a legal framework and create conditions for Vietnamese citizens to easily enter Australia to work in the agricultural sector.
“Australia accepts foreign workers with good wages, a clear legal system, ensures the rights of workers, but requires strict skills and foreign languages.
