HÀ NỘI An art performance Spring for Children will take place on January 10 in Hà Nội to raise funds for poor children.
The programme held at the Hà Nội Opera House will be broadcast live on VTV2 from 8pm, featuring famous singers and troupes.
The programme will tell audiences stories of children with heart disease, those suffering from the consequences of floods in the central region and poor ethnic minority children. Meritorious Artist Xuân Bắc will narrate the stories.
Hosted by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the National Fund for Vietnamese Children, this is the 14th edition of the event.
The event is expected to receive about VNĐ100 billion (US$4.3 million) from philanthropists, according to Hoàng Văn Tiến, director of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children,
Over the years, the programme has raised VNĐ1.2 trillion ($52 million) to support 1 million children through scholarships, clean water projects, free operations and building schools.
The organisers will present certificates of merit to individuals and units with excellent contributions to protecting and caring for children in 2020 and introduce new projects for children in 2021.
Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh will attend the event, calling on people to join hands to care for, protect and educate Vietnamese children. VNS
