As a small island located in 388 islands of Cat Ba archipelago, Hai Phong, Tu Do Island (also known as “Freedom island” by foreign tourists) is probably a unique island in Vietnam. There are two sea sides that few people know about. Nestled in Lan Ha Bay, perhaps Tu Do Island is considered the most unique landscape here.
Famous Sri Lankan travel blogger Shenelle Rodrigo used to check-in at Freedom Island with the line sharing her wonderful feelings: “I can only utter two words “perfect”. This is a “born” place for swimming, moreover, you can kayak to explore the entire island. Even while exploring, we also discovered a small beach with an interesting shape. You will never regret spending a full day experiencing Tu Do Island.”
The two beaches of Tu Do island are separated by a sandy shore, visitors can walk from one beach to the other to admire the nature. At the beach in front, visitors can participate in activities such as swimming, kayaking, SUP paddle boarding, exploring other surrounding islets, having a boat to take guests to the bay or trekking. The back of the island has a long stretch of sand suitable for beach volleyball or visitors can enjoy the shade of the casuarina canopy, lie in a hammock reading, listen to music, relax.
In the evening, guests can organize a BBQ party, enjoy fresh seafood caught on the island, drink cocktails with friends. Tu Do Island still retains the wildest features of nature, so all activities that visitors participate in are very private and undisturbed.
The best time to visit Tu Do Island is in April-June or September-October. The poetic and charming scenery of this place will surely make visitors fall in love and forget the dust and noise of the city. Seen from above, Tu Do Island is as beautiful as foreign beaches.
