District 3 People’s Committee organized the groundbreaking of the work to repair and upgrade the roundabout of Turtle Lake with a total cost of nearly 15 billion VND, construction time 4 months, completed before September 2.
According to the People’s Committee of District 3, the project will include items to improve sidewalks, curbs and install seats. Specifically, constructing and renovating the green space on the sidewalk, renovating rainwater drainage manholes, renovating the lighting system, relocating some capacitors, telecommunications cabinets, constructing electrical cabinets and gen pipes for billboards.
The work was carried out on Pham Ngoc Thach street (from Nguyen Dinh Chieu to Nguyen Thi Minh Khai); Tran Cao Van street (from Turtle Lake to Hai Ba Trung); Vo Van Tan street (from Turtle Lake to Pasteur). The total pavement area is about 6,700 m².
The renovation and upgrading of sidewalks for pedestrians around the construction site help create a spacious urban face, increase traffic capacity, improve people’s living conditions and meet the goal of developing this area into a walking street on weekends, creating space for cultural activities, entertainment spots of the people.
Previously, the People’s Committee of District 3 had proposed to build a high-quality pedestrian street in the area of Turtle Lake with a total area of 19,500 m². In which, the paving area of the roadbed is more than 12,700 m², the central paving area is more than 3,200 m² and more than 3,500 m² of the paving area of 4 pavement routes Pham Ngoc Thach, Tran Cao Van and Vo Van Tan streets, the sidewalk around the International Square but the work has not been implemented yet.
