Authorities in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh city are urging the government to recognize positive rapid tests for COVID-19 to present a clearer picture of its outbreak, state media reported on Monday, a move that could increase the city’s case total by 40%.
Vietnam reported 9,342 new Covid-19 cases in the same day, down 669 cases from Sunday, raising the domestic tally of the ongoing wave to 761,528.
Ho Chi Minh City continued leading the number of new infections with 4,134 cases, Binh Duong with 3,793 cases and Dong Nai with 616 cases.
According to health ministry 4,453 cases of Of the day’s tally were detected in the community.

The health ministry also confirmed 10,528 discharges the same day, bringing the total tally of recovered cases so far to 538,454.
The Covid-19 death toll in Vietnam rose to 18,758 with the confirmation of 174 deaths Monday.
The average number of new cases in the country for the past seven days has been 10,035 a day while the national death rate over the past week has been 208 a day on average.
The country has vaccinated over 39.23 million people with at least one Covid-19 vaccine shot. Over 8.2 million have been fully vaccinated, VNExpress reported.
