E Hospital in Hanoi has been quarantined after a Covid-19 patient was detected. Quarantine started at 8 pm on Wednesday.
The new Covid-19 case at the hospital is an 87-year-old man from the northern province of Phu Tho’s Thanh Ba District, raising the country’s total number of Covid-19 infections to 994.
On August 11, he had respiratory problems and came to E Hospital for a medical check-up a day later and stayed at his relative’s house in Hanoi’s Co Nhue Commune. On August 13, he was hospitalised and diagnosed with pneumonia.
He tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday. He is now being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi. Dr Luong Ngoc Khue, head of Department for Medical Examination and Treatment said that it wa necessary to consider this as a Covid-19 outbreak following the experience from Danang City.
E Hospital needs to urgently define vulnerable people for the virus prevention. Since July 25, Hanoi has had 36 Covid-19 patients with no deaths, including 12 community transmission cases.
By Wednesday afternoon, 66,914 among a total of 100,178 people in Hanoi who returned from Danang recently have been provided with Covid-19 tests. The result of 34,954 tests has been announced with only one positive case, Patient 979.
