According to information on the official Paris 2024 Olympics website, traditional Vietnamese dishes like pho and spring rolls will be included in the nutritional menu for athletes participating in this global sporting event.
Notably, in the “Soup of the Day” section in the Asian food stall, pho will be served in the three main meals of the athletes. In its introduction, pho is referred to as a culinary icon of Vietnam, made from bone broth and rice noodles, accompanied by various other ingredients.

Nutritional information, including the calorie content (kcal) of pho, is detailed on the website. This dish is known to be rich in carbohydrates (starch, sugars, and fiber), providing sufficient energy for athletes during competition.
In addition to pho, spring rolls are also included in the Asian menu with an introduction labeling them as “Vietnamese culinary specialties.” This dish consists of thin rice paper rolls filled with a variety of vegetables. Sometimes they also contain boiled pork and shrimp. The nutritional information indicates that spring rolls are suitable for vegetarians due to their high starch and fiber content.
The inclusion of pho and spring rolls in the Paris 2024 Olympic menu allows Vietnamese athletes to enjoy familiar dishes in a foreign land, boosting their competitive spirit. It also presents an opportunity to promote traditional Vietnamese cuisine to international friends.
The dining area at this sporting event is divided into six stalls, including Europe (World), Asia (Asian), and Halal, among others, to cater to the needs of athletes from various countries. Additionally, there are 11 subsidiary stalls such as street food, sandwiches, burgers, pastries, etc. All dishes are prepared by Michelin-starred chefs.
In previous Olympic Games, Vietnamese dishes have been featured in the menu on several occasions. Vietnamese pho appeared at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (Japan), replacing beef with signature Wagyu beef.
Athletes were also served stir-fried pho at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympics (Brazil). This demonstrates that Vietnamese cuisine is increasingly asserting its position on the global stage.
