Architectural Digest writes: “Hoi An, a very prosperous trading port bustling with activity from the 15th to the 19th century, is a popular tourist destination for many reasons, the most notable being the monthly lantern festival held on Tran Phu Street. The festival celebrates the full moon by lighting candles and placing them inside colorful paper lanterns. Residents of Tran Phu Street have been following this tradition for centuries.”

Tran Phu Street, located in Minh Anh ward, is approximately 1 kilometer long, with one end connecting to Hoang Dieu Street and the other ending at the Japanese Covered Bridge. This road is in the center of Hoi An’s ancient town and was known as Rue du Pont Japonnais during the French period, meaning Japanese Bridge Street. The ancient architectural structures on Tran Phu Street include the Guangdong Assembly Hall, the Fujian Assembly Hall, the Quynh Phu Assembly Hall, and the Chaozhou Assembly Hall; the Quan Cong Temple, the Hoi An Museum of History and Culture, and the Sa Huynh Culture Museum.
