In a startling turn of events, a bag containing 32 rectangular packages, suspected to be drugs, was found adrift and washed ashore in Tan Dien commune, Go Cong Dong district. The discovery, made on April 1, has sparked a joint investigation by local authorities and concerned citizens.
The saga began on the evening of March 31, when Mr. N.T.T., a resident of Tan Dien commune, reported to the Tan Thanh Border Guard Station about his father’s peculiar find—a box-shaped block wrapped in black tape drifting in from the sea, ultimately getting caught on the seawall.
Responding swiftly, border forces teamed up with the Tien Giang Provincial Police to inspect the scene. Upon carefully unwrapping the black tape, they uncovered a gray handbag containing 29 rectangular packages, each weighing approximately 1kg. Wrapped in layers of gray plastic, these packages held white solid crystals, raising suspicions of illicit drugs.
This recent incident follows earlier discoveries in the region. On the same afternoon, two individuals stumbled upon three rectangular packages, each weighing over 1kg, while collecting scraps in the protective forest area of Kieng Phuoc commune. Additionally, on March 29 and 30, beachgoers in the Go Cong area found 52 rectangular packages, suspected to contain synthetic drugs. Altogether, authorities in Tien Giang have seized and are currently investigating approximately 84kg of suspected drugs washed ashore.
All evidence has been promptly handed over to the drug crime investigation unit of the Tien Giang Provincial Police for a thorough examination and appropriate action within their jurisdiction.
