Asia captivates tourists with its many ideal destinations and an array of irresistible cuisines. Recently, Taste Atlas announced a list of the 100 most famous Asian dishes, including two representatives from Vietnam: Banh Mi and Pho.
Taste Atlas describes Banh Mi as a famous Vietnamese sandwich, which includes ingredients with French culinary influences, such as meat and pate, and Vietnamese flavors like cilantro, chili, and pickled vegetables.
Bread is loved by many tourists
CNN has also listed Banh Mi as one of the 24 best sandwiches in the world in a list published on April 20. According to the publication, tourists can easily find Banh Mi on food carts in almost every corner of Ho Chi Minh City and throughout Vietnam. Banh Mi is not only a popular food among locals but also well-known and loved by many foreign tourists.
Banh Mi fillings are typically made with pork, cha lua, pickled carrots, cilantro, and various sauces. Depending on the region, tourists can enjoy many different types of Banh Mi. CNN commented, “Vietnamese Banh Mi is crispy, fresh, and extremely delicious.”
As for Pho, Taste Atlas recognizes it as one of the most delicious and popular dishes in Vietnam. It is also a street food that reflects the Vietnamese lifestyle and is loved in the West for its delicious and unique flavor, simplicity, and elegance. Although it is classified as a soup, Pho is served as a main dish.
Pho is one of the famous dishes of Vietnam
Traditionally, Pho is made with chicken or beef broth, and the bones are simmered for at least three hours until achieving the perfect flavor. Adding herbs and spices enhances the flavor, and the chewy noodles, fresh beef slices, and herbs elevate the dish to a whole new level.
Aside from the above Vietnamese dishes, Taste Atlas also mentions many famous Asian dishes such as Sushi, Ramen (Japan), Jiaozi and Baozi (China), Roti (India), Rendang and Sambal (Indonesia), Thai Curry (Thailand), Kalbi and Samgyeopsal (Korea), and more.
