Applicants who do not have a passport with a blue cover will not be allowed to interview and will have to reschedule, a notice on the Facebook page of the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on September 30 said.
Previously, the US State Department announced that those who want to apply for a visa with a new passport form of Vietnam will have to add information about their place of birth.
On Facebook on September 12, the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this country has decided that for the purpose of applying for a visa, new Vietnamese passports with a purple cover with no information about the place of birth will have to add a note from the Vietnamese government about the place of birth.

“We recommend that individuals who have scheduled an interview appointment in the near future need to add a note before the appointment date. Due to certain inconveniences of this requirement, we will continue to interview applicants without have been noted in the passport until the end of September 29”, according to the notice from the US Consulate General.
The US Consulate General also informed that when filling out the DS-160 or DS-260 form, applicants should make sure to fill in their place of birth – not their hometown or place of birth, but the province and country of birth.
