Up to 64 traffic accidents took place throughout Vietnam during the Hung Kings anniversary holiday on April 13 and 14, the ninth and tenth days of the third lunar months, according to the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security.
The annual Hung Kings Temple Festival, which began on April 13, saw a total of 41 people killed with an additional 42 others injured as a result of traffic accidents.
On April 14 alone, a total of 23 people were killed and a further 28 others were wounded after being involved in 37 separate road traffic accidents.
During the two-day holiday between April 13 and 14, traffic police on roads across the nation’s provinces and cities took on over 4,824 cases of road traffic violations. Traffic police were able to collect a total of VND4.3 billion in fines whilst detaining 24 automobiles and 554 motorcyles.
On the country’s waterways meanwhile, authorities dealt with 345 violations, resulting in VND321 million worth of fines being collected related to waterway traffic safety.
