HCM CITY The Văn Học Publishing House has launched the second “Reading Space” in HCM City for providing children with an area for reading and other educational-fun activities.
This community-oriented area is at 27A Phan Bá Phiến Street, Tân Bình District, while the first one is at its branch location in District 3.
It will remain open all week, and there will be special educational-fun activities for children on Thursdays and weekends.
On Thursdays children will be led by an editor of the publisher to read the full text of literary works of their literature textbooks to learn more about what they study in school.
Additionally, on Saturdays or Sundays, there will be a special guest, who is a parent of one of the children, discussing topics related to their areas of expertise and various aspects of life.
Phạm Thanh Điệp, deputy head of the Văn Học Publishing House in HCM City and the founder of this project, said the second “Reading Space” retains the first one’s goal of helping children develop a habit of and love for reading, especially during summer when they are free often resort to using smart phones for entertainment.
It is also equipped with musical instruments, drawing tools and paper with the aim of creating an even more engaging space for the children.
There is a spot earmarked with books for parents and other adults who want to read to help develop a reading community, she added. VNS
