Twenty-three people died and twenty-eight others were critically injured on the road yesterday, the Hung Kings Commemoration Day of Vietnam.
Within 2 days (April 13 and 14), a total of 64 traffic accidents occurred, 41 dead, 42 injured at record nationwide high.
According to the country’s General Statistics Office, between January and March, 4,030 traffic accidents occurred in Vietnam, killing 1,905 people, severely injuring 1,209 people and slightly hurting 1,932 others.
In Vietnam, road crashes are a leading cause of deaths, killing almost one person every hour. More than 18,720 traffic accidents occurred in 2018, killing 8,244 people and injuring nearly 14,800, said an officer of the National Traffic Safety Committee.
